Mozambique Tropical Getaway

OVERVIEW

Mozambique has the longest stretch of Indian Ocean coastline in Africa, stretching some 2500 kilometres from the southern border with South Africa to the northern border with Tanzania. The civil war which ended in 1992 ensured that this tropical paradise remained inaccessible, but since that time, the infrastructure has become world-class, meaning that countless unspoiled archipelagos and beaches are now a chip and a putt from Johannesburg – the perfect way to wind down after touring Southern Africa.

DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1 • Arrive in Johannesburg
Upon arrival in Johannesburg, you will cross the road from the International arrivals hall and check in at the Intercontinental Hotel. Overnight at The Intercontinental Hotel .
Day 2 • Fly to Pemba
Today you will walk back across the road to the international departures terminal in time to check in for your flight to Pemba. Upon arrival in Pemba, you will take a short helicopter ride to Azura Quilalea Private Island Lodge. Overnight at Azura Quilalea Private Island Lodge .
Days 3, 4, 5 and 6 • At Azura Quilalea Private Island Lodge
Azura Quilalea is a wholly uninhabited island paradise surrounded by the pristine waters of the Quirimbas Archipelago marine sanctuary. The island offers a retreat from the hustle and bustle of daily life, with a relaxed and understated ‘Robinson Crusoe’ castaway style that belies the comforts and experiences on offer. During your four full days here, you can snorkel the island’s shores, dive from the main beach, kayak the mangroves or relax beneath the giant baobabs on the island. Azura Quilalea’s nine seafront villas offer the ultimate private luxury hideaway in a stunning undiscovered destination. It is the only island in Mozambique with a house reef, accessible directly from the main beach, making it a fabulous destination for snorkellers, scuba divers and lovers of marine life. It is also home to more than 50 giant baobabs and 180 species of migrating birds.
Day 7 • Fly to Johannesburg
Today you will be transferred by helicopter back to Pemba in time to catch your onward flight to Johannesburg. Upon arrival in Johannesburg, you will make your way to the departures terminal in time for your flight home.
