Sri Lanka’s Pristine South Coast

OVERVIEW

For those who do not have the time to explore the Cultural Triangle in central Sri Lanka and simply want a taste of the island’s fantastic southern coast, this trip is for you. In only a week, you will explore the coastal area around Galle and take in something of Sri Lanka’s wildlife at Yala National Park.

DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1 • Arrival in Colombo
Upon arrival in Colombo airport, a car and driver will meet you and transfer you directly to Galle on the island’s south coast. Upon arrival in the Galle district, you will check in at The Frangipani Tree boutique hotel, where you will spend the next three nights. The hotel is located about eleven kilometres along the coast from Galle Fort, making it the ideal base from which to explore the area. Overnight at The Frangipani Tree . Approximate driving time: 2 hours (on the new freeway)
Days 2 and 3 • Explore the Galle area
You will have two full days to explore this area. Apart from relaxing on the lovely beach in front of the hotel, you can explore the Galle Fort and dine at some of the many excellent restaurants there, snorkel, whale watch, visit tea estates and cinnamon plantations, enjoy cooking demonstrations and much more. Overnight on both nights at The Frangipani Tree .
Day 4 • Galle to Yala
Today you will be transferred after breakfast to Yala Wildlife Park. Upon arrival in Yala you will proceed to the Kulu Safaris camp where you will overnight. You will arrive in time to do an evening game drive into the park. Overnight at Kulu Safaris . Approximate driving time: 4 hours
Day 5 • Explore Yala
You will have a full day at Yala. You will go on a morning and an evening safari in search of the animals residing in the park, but the park is well known as one of the best parks in Asia in which to spot leopards. Overnight again at Kulu Safaris .
Day 6 • Yala to Colombo
Today you will be taken on the second game drive around Yala, before starting the drive to Colombo. Upon arrival in Colombo in the mid-afternoon, you will have a few hours for some shopping or a city tour. Overnight at The Galle Face Hotel . Approximate driving time: 5 hours
Day 7 • Departure
Today you will be transferred to Colombo airport in time for the departure of your onward flight.
