An Affordable Taste of Tanzania

OVERVIEW

Tanzanian wildlife parks, some say, are what Kenya’s used to be 30 years ago. Tanzania does indeed see far fewer tourists than its northern neighbour, which in general means that wildlife sightings are more intimate. This trip will expose you to two of the country’s best-known reserves, Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti, before ending up with time on the beach in Zanzibar. We have selected lodges that will make this trip as affordable as possible.

DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1 • Arusha to Ngorongoro Crater
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, after clearing immigration you will be met and transferred directly to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. After checking in at the Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge you will have lunch, after which you will have the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight at the Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge . Approximate driving time: 3 hours
Day 2 • Full day in the Ngorongoro Crater
You will have one full day to explore Ngorongoro Crater. After breakfast you will descend into the crater for a full day’s game viewing with packed lunches, which will be eaten in the crater. Return to the lodge in the mid-afternoon. Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge .
Day 3 • Transfer to Serengeti
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the Serengeti National Park. Upon arrival at Serengeti you will check in at the Serengeti Serena Lodge. After lunch at the Lodge you will go on your first safari into the park. Dinner and overnight at Serengeti Serena Lodge . Approximate driving time: 3 hours
Days 4 and 5 • In the Serengeti
The programme on both days will be similar; after a hearty breakfast at the lodge, you will head out into the park with packed lunches in search of wildlife. Your driver will attempt to cover different routes on each day. Depending on the time of year, you may need to drive some distance to view the migrating herds. Overnight on both nights at Serengeti Serena Lodge .
Day 6 • Fly to Zanzibar
After an early breakfast you will be transferred to the Seronera airstrip in time for the scheduled flight to Zanzibar. Upon arrival in Zanzibar, you will be met and transferred to Palumboreef Beach Resort on the island’s east coast, where you will stay for four nights.
Days 7, 8 and 9 • In Zanzibar
You will have three full days to enjoy this idyllic resort. Optional activities include swimming, snorkelling, diving, nature walks, fishing and much more. Overnight throughout at Palumboreef Beach Resort .
Day 10 • Departure
Today in the early morning you will be transferred to Zanzibar airport in time to board your flight to Dar es Salaam. Approximate driving time: 1 hour.
